The revenue generation of Cable TV providers at the LCO's is limited by
a) The number of channels that they can insert
b) The advertisement slots available to them
c) Their ability to charge for their content
d) The Total number of TV Channels is a combination of FTA (Free To Air) as well as paid channels that can be provided to the viewers.

Digital Headend

Edge QAM
QAM stands for quadrature amplitude modulation, the format by which digital cable channels are encoded and transmitted via cable television providers. QAM is used in a variety of communications systems such as Dial-up modems and Wi Fi. In cable systems, a QAM tuner is linked to the cable in a manner that is equivalent to an ATSC tuner which is required to receive over-the-air (OTA) digital channels broadcast by local television stations when attached to an antenna. Most new HDTV digital televisions support both of these standards.
Most of the time QAM 64/126/256 are already in-built either IRD or modulators. Say if you want to signal in DVB-C, the more the number of QAM's more the number of channels can send distributed in a frequency.
Example if QAM 64 bit generally has a capability to tramit data of around 37 mbps (Max) i.e around 16 SD channels. Also the modulator plays an important role in deciding number of QAMs that it can accept. QAM is the heart of the headend. Hence we advice to choose wisely.

Encodulators
HD EncodulatorTM is professional Video / Audio Encoder which has DTV broadcasting modulator using AV compression and digital modulation technologies. MPEG-2 / H.264 technologies were supported for Video compression and MP1L2 / AC3 / AAC / HE-AAC technologies were supported for Audio compression. For the video input, this product has HDMI, HD-SDI, Component ports and HDMI, HD-SDI, Analog Stereo Audio(L/R), SPDIF(optical/coaxial) and AES/EBU for audio input. And for the encoder and modulation output, this product has ASI and Ethernet ports and RF output port.
